Friday, February 10
9AM – 4PM SIFE Conference (Newport Mesa Church)
Vanguard’s chapter of Students in Free Enterprise hosts its 4th Annual Sustainability Conference for local business owners, professionals, and students. Among the 11 nationally known speakers are: Jennifer Schwab (Sierra Club Green Home), Nicole Suydam '95 (Goodwill of Orange County), Kallie Dovel '08 (31 Bits), and Tyler Merrick (Project 7).
Special Alumni cost of attendance is only $10, which includes lunch.

12 – 5PM Alumni Hospitality Room (Forrest Room)
Tour a special Homecoming exhibit of Vanguard traditions and archives at the Forrest Room, located next to Needham Chapel. Campus tours are offered from 3-5pm. You are also welcome to join Alumni Relations staff for dinner in the Café from 5-7PM at an Alumni discounted price.
5:30PM – 7PM Music Alumni Gathering (The Cove)
Alumni who have been involved with any Vanguard Music ensembles, let’s get together! Come reconnect with Music faculty and hear the latest in department news. Cost is free. RSVP to Tiffany Chase '10 at tiffany.chase@vanguard.edu
7PM - 9PM Concert in The Cove
Come enjoy a little night music with Joe Lopez '02 and his band, Stripe Coats. The concert will be in a coffee shop style setting and feature opening acts of Vanguard student bands. 7PM MBA Reunion (Wahoos @Fashion Island)
Vanguard MBA graduates, where are you? Well, it’s time you let us know! Let’s have dinner in Fashion Island (Newport Beach) at the newly opened Wahoo’s location, co-founded and hosted by Ed Lee ’87. ALL Day Alumni Hospitality Room (Forrest Room)
Tour a special Homecoming exhibit of Vanguard traditions and archives at the Forrest Room, located next to Needham Chapel. Get more information about Homecoming events and learn more about Vanguard’s recent accomplishments. Yearbooks from each decade will be available for Alumni and families to peruse as well. Open from 10AM-5PM.
9AM – 12PM Alumni SERVE (Needham Chapel)
Vanguard is founded on Truth, Virtue, and Service. Let’s relive our student City Serve days and serve Orange County in a very practical way. Invite your family and friends to participate too! Continental breakfast will be provided. To sign-up for a serving opportunity, mark your rsvp in the form above.
12PM – 2PM Lunch – Gourmet Food Trucks (The Cove lot)
Embrace your inner foodie and taste the latest trend in quick gourmet cuisine. Tables and chairs will be available at the parking lot next to The Cove. Music provided by the Vanguard Jazz Band. Food provided by Crepes Bonaparte and The Burnt Truck.
Prices vary per food truck. Bring CASH to sample it all.

Caring for the Soul that is You
Encouraging words and soul care practices with Dr. Bill Dogterom, Religion faculty
Veterans Play Theater performance and Actors’ workshop
Watch and provide feedback for a new play project by Warren Doody ’79 depicting stories of Vanguard’s student Veterans. This powerful performance includes the cast of: Rosalyn Brickman '12, Michael Dye '10, Ryan Miller '10, Lucas Moore '11, and Paige Murray '10.
Cost for the "Back to Class" workshops are FREE. Just mark your rsvp in the form above.
1PM - 3PM Kids Zone (Towers Lobby)
Supervised activities for elementary aged children available if parents choose to attend any of the Back to Class workshops. The Vanguard Student Government Association will host activities like: sand volleyball, bounce house, Wii, and various playground games. Cost is free. Register your children in the form above.
1PM – 3PM Youth Basketball Clinic (The Gym)
The Clinic will be hosted by the Vanguard Basketball coaching staff. Boys and girls ages 6-14 are welcome to participate; cost is free. Also, kids who attend the Youth Basketball Clinic will receive free admission to the Vanguard vs. The Master’s College basketball games that night. Register your children in the form above.
3PM – 3:30PM Alumni vs. All-Star Intramural Basketball Game (The Gym)
The votes are in and the students have chosen their favorite Intramural All-Stars to challenge Alumni of Noonball Basketball fame. Meet us in the Vanguard gym to see who will receive bragging rights at this competitive event. Cost is free. For any Men and Women basketball enthusiasts who’d like to play on the Alumni team, let Mike Wilson '83 know at alumni@vanguard.edu
3PM – 4:30PM Homecoming Awards Chapel (Needham Chapel)
Join us for this Homecoming tradition as we worship and pray together. The message will be given by Dr. Carol Taylor, who will share the state of Vanguard address. Music will be provided by the Vanguard Singers & Band. The Golden Vanguard Society (Alumni from 1920-1961) will also be featured, and the Class of 1962 will be inducted as new GVS members. Alumni Awards will be presented to the following:
Alumnus of the Year: Ron Prettyman ’77
Career Achievement Award: Rick Francis ’87
Distinguished Service Award: David G. Clark ’68
Young Alumna of the Year: Marsha Caradonna ’00, MBA ’08
Refreshments will be served in the Forrest Room following the program. Chapel credit is offered for current students. Cost is FREE. Mark your rsvp in the form above.
5PM - 6:30PM Pre-Game BBQ (The Cafe & Towers Lobby)
A photo booth, bounce house… and campus Cookout provided by Bon Appetit for dinner! Come see the *new* Towers Lobby for yourself, where face-painting will be provided by current SGA and student leaders.
Cost for BBQ dinner AND admission to both Basketball games:

5:30/7:30PM Women & Men’s Basketball vs. Master’s College (The Gym)
Cheer on our Vanguard Lions as they challenge The Master’s College! Vanguard Barbershop & Beautyshop quartets will be singing the National Anthem, and the Alumni Upperdeck will be open during halftime of both games.
Cost is $6 for adults, $3 kids; CASH only. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
